It's All About Perspective

Once you've read it, read it again - backward.
Then consider that it was written by a 14 year old!
Attitude will make or break you.
Stay positive.

Sometimes We Need To Go

I find great joy in repeating some of those spectacular childhood memories with my grandchildren.  Family traditions are those little things that get passed down from generation to generation.  What better way is there for our children to connect with older generations than sharing our experiences with them?  There are so many memories of my youth that I can't wait to introduce my grandchildren to that don't have a thing to do with today's digital environment.  Sometimes, we just need to go where those great old memories take us and create new ones.  Hopefully they will make memories that our children and grandchildren will want to pass along to future generations of our offspring.  Can life on this earth get any better than that?

If Dogs Could Talk

I'm sure mine are saying a lot more than this to me as I took them to get their shots yesterday.  They were none too happy with their momma last night.  It would be interesting though, to hear the conversations they have between them!  I can just imagine how interesting those might be!

The Mindset of Your Sign

I have to say that for me, the mindset is pretty accurate!  How about yours?

Follow Your Dreams

I can't begin to stress this enough.  Our life span gets shorter every day.  Don't waste time.  Follow your dreams.  Do what you have to but also, do what you love.  Life is way too short not to.

A Kansas Poem

I don't know who wrote this little ditty but I laughed when I read it - it brought back too many winter memories of a life lived on the Kansas Plains!  We finally had enough sense to get out a few years ago and moved to Florida in mid-July which is hotter than the dickens here.  That's the time of year the snowbirds have all fled our sand pile to resume living in their cooler northern climates.  I snicker now though because the temperature this weekend is only in the 50's so all those snowbirds are wearing their long underwear, boots and hats!  I'm just thankful that we don't live any further north than we do.  Ice and blizzards are no longer part of our winter weather vocabulary.  Praise the Lord!

There Are Days

There are days when everything you do seems perfectly normal and then you look in the mirror. Believe me, there are times I'd just like to put on a flowery top, a tutu, stick a big pink bow in my hair and call it a day!  How about you?

The Forehead Kiss

I found this incredibly interesting.  I believe that a kiss is intimate, on any level (though the levels can mean many different things).  My books have never included a forehead kiss before.  I will make sure the next installment, Shattered Glass, does.  That said, my fingers are itching to get that scene started!  Gotta go.  Have a great day!

Spice of Life

I know that the New Year brings focus to our health.  For all of you, like me, who are working hard at reducing unwanted pounds and becoming more physically fit, I thought a little humor was in store.  I wish you the best in all the health goals you set for yourself on 2016.  Like Oprah's new Weight Watcher commercial says, "Let's make 2016 the year of our best bodies." - Just do it!  (Nike)

Brain Teaser Thursday

Happy Thursday.  I am sharing another puzzle with you, a little brain teaser to start your day.  It took me less than 5 minutes to find all the words.  Can you do it faster than that?  Good luck!

Computer Crash

Roses are red
Violets are blue
My morning was disrupted
When my internet blew!

My apologies for not posting a blog today.  I booted the computer this morning only to find that our internet was down and I didn't have time to sit and wait for it to come back up.  I didn't get home from work until after 6:00 pm this evening so I couldn't post any earlier.  I get so frustrated when technology doesn't work.  Am I spoiled?  Yes I am.  Hope you enjoyed your day anyway.

Cleaning for a Reason

I think this organization and its partners needs to be shared.  I am going to check into a local partner here in our small Florida town.  If there isn't one, I will see what I can do to bring Cleaning for a Reason to our community.  Please check out their website (listed above) and back them in any way that you can.  It truly is a blessing to those in need.  Thank you.

A Little Grammar Humor

The rules of grammar can be complicated but this little sentence makes light of it.  Thank goodness for all those who have a sense of humor. I can't imagine living this life without one.  We are now into our second full week of January...please have a little fun and enjoy it!

Just Be

Sometimes it may be difficult to do but do it anyway.
It's the best gift you can give to yourself.

When I'm an Old Lady

Yay!  Something for my kids to look forward to!

When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!

When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.
I'll write on the walls with reds, whites and blues,
And I'll bounce on the furniture wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.

I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.
When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.

Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.
When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat.

I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry I'll run if I'm able!
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.
I'll sit close to the TV, through channels I'll click.

I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud 'til the end of the day!
When I'm an old lady and live with my kids.

And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"

Would You Do It?

Question:

You have to stay in this cabin for the entire month of January. You have all the food and water you'll need. You have enough firewood to keep a fire going until the 31st. You have no access to Internet , cell phones or tv. On the 31st of January, you walk out of the door with $100,000. Would you do it?

My answer:  Yes, yes, and yes!!!  I would pack up my books, my warm clothes plus thick snugly socks and blankets, and "Hi-ho, hi-ho," off the cabin I go!  It sounds like pure heaven to me!

Dragging A Little

This is how I feel this morning.  Tired but happy!  I stayed up until midnight last night watching the KU vs. Oklahoma college basketball game.  After three overtime periods, KU finally won 109 to 106.  What a game - one of the best I've ever seen.  Needless to say, there was couch jumping going on at my house!  Now I have to go to work...and I'm not a coffee drinker.  Yikes!!!

Grandchildren Are a Blessing

I viewed a picture of my granddaughter meeting her great-great-grandmother today.  I was not there to enjoy it in person this weekend but the picture sparked a few tears.  It certainly fills me with thanks and gratitude to know how truly blessed our family is.  My hope is that God will allow me to hold my great-great-grandchildren one day.  Until then, it's one day, one blessing at a time.

Welcome 2016!

The Blessing Bag

This post is making it's rounds on Facebook and I felt I need to share it.  It's a great idea and with the coming of the New Year, I believe that I will be participating in this small but genuine act of kindness.

"This is what me and my daughter have started doing....We are keeping a "Blessing bag" in our car in case we find someone in need. You can make these up with items from the Dollar Tree such as gloves, thermal socks, beef sticks, crackers, candy bars, toothpaste, toothbrush, wipes, deodorant, snacks and other items that may help someone who is homeless or in a bad way. It is just a thoughtful, inspiring thing to do. This is something we are going to start doing from now on. Thank you to the ones that did this long before us, for being such a giving, loving, caring person! Random acts of kindness take very little to change the life of just one person."
