This week, I'm going to share something in a slightly different way. I came across an article titled "33 Reasons Why You’re Addicted to Books." Instead on inundating you with all 33 reasons in one post, I am going to use the week to share a handful at a time. So, here are the first seven reasons (quotes):
1.
“People say that life is the thing, but I prefer
reading.” —Logan Pearsall Smith
2.
“You think your pain and your heartbreak are
unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read.” —James Baldwin
3.
“Words can be like X-rays if you use them
properly — they’ll go through anything. You read and you’re pierced.” —Aldous
Huxley, Brave New World
4.
“I find television very educating. Every time
somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.” —Groucho
Marx
5.
“I don’t believe in the kind of magic in my
books. But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good
book.” —J.K. Rowling
6.
“I think we ought to read only the kind of books
that wound and stab us.” — Franz Kafka
7.
“You want to know about anybody? See what books
they read, and how they’ve been read…” —Keri Hulme, The Bone People
