Family Ties Matter

Todd Bachman, father of the bride, brought his daughter to the beginning of the aisle...he stopped the procession while people were confused at his actions and he walked up to his daughter's stepfather. Todd reached out his hand and grabbed Brittany's stepfather and pulled him down the aisle to walk their daughter down the aisle together. NOT A DRY EYE at the ceremony..including me! Families are what we make them...make it about your kids and not your ego. Congratulations Todd Bachman on showing your kids what true love really is...love for your children.   They should always come first.

Blood Moon

While the rest of us slept Sunday night into early Monday morning, Mike Mezeul II of Dallas stayed up and captured this:

Mike's commentary:  After spending 5 hours on a rooftop with an incredible view of Dallas, I was able to create this composite image showing the moon transition from full moon, to full lunar eclipse, and back. Each moon image was shot approximately 10 minutes apart to capture the entire transition. I hope you all enjoy! Feel free to share!

The Problem with Cleaning

I am headed out to clean my garage this morning.  Since my parents are moving into their new home shortly, they are hosting a big garage sale next weekend.  I plan to contribute to it.  So, here's to hoping that I don't get distracted with anything I find out there! 

My mantra:  Keep.  Sell.  Discard.  Repeat.

I have to give a shout out to my home town team, the Kansas City Royals.  They have clinched the American League Central Division for the MLB league.  Congrats to the team and the city!

Craft Project for a New Born

If you want your house to smell like fall, boil some orange peels with a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon on Medium heat. ~ It's an old Southern trick.

Note:  Oranges in Florida this time of year are a household staple!

We are getting closer to this moment kids!  One daughter-in-law is due on the 26th of September, the other on the 5th of October.  We are truly getting excited for the arrival of our new granddaughters!

Note to Mom:  We need to go shopping to pick out tubes of the brightest red lipsticks we can find!  I know you've pulled the great-grandma card so yes, you can go first!

Don't Give Up

If you really stop to think about it, these are heavy words.  We all want to give up at some point in life.  To think on it, to really dive into the deep, dark spaces hidden inside, can be eye opening and just may change everything.  Don't be afraid to stop and think.  It may be the best decision you ever make.

What I Miss Most

This is the biggest drawback for me of being a Florida resident.  Fall is my favorite season of the year.  From the vibrant colors to the cooling temperatures, God's canvas is spectacular.  We have a few changes in the landscape here but nothing compared to up North.  I truly do miss it.

A Parents Visit to the Doctor

My daughter-in-law shared this comic strip claiming that they are the right panel which makes me laugh because they are truly a laid-back family and I've heard them both of them saying something like this to my six year old grandson.  However, they are due in early October to add a little girl to their family and I can't wait to see if the same behaviors hold true when they are holding that little pink bundle of joy.  My He-Man son is about to have his world turned completely upside down!  It is going to be such fun to watch and participate in!  If fact, mom and I are going baby shopping today!

As a parent, I couldn't ask for anything better than knowing my boys are good people.  With all the love I've given them and the all growing pains they've given me, I know I've participated in doing something right by them and it makes me one proud Momma!  I love you to the moon and back boys!
