Oh My Goodness! I can walk into WalMart in a perfectly good mood and walk out with a devil may care attitude. What happens to people in there? Even some of the treasured Christians I know have to work up to making the trip. Just last week, one such person told me he was working on getting into the right frame of mind to go inside. The first day, after driving 25 miles to get to the nearest WalMart, he coasted through the parking lot and drove back home. Obviously, he was not yet ready. The next day he faced his fears, parked his truck and walked inside. An hour later, worn out from the experience, his molested groceries in hand, he exited the building. Molested groceries? My, my, it really doesn't get much worse than that! If you still don't believe me, take a good look at the next People from WalMart email that gets passed around. You will no longer be a doubting Thomas.

Pretzel Fingers (A Spooky Treat)
Aren't these...interesting?!!!
Perfect for Halloween! Dip the pretzel rods in white chocolate dyed green and add a sliced almond fingernail. Use a toothpick to add the knuckles. They are both easy and fun!

Love Life Experiment:
The results of my experiment: "Sunday afternoon Renee sat in front of the computer screen, her fingers clicking the mouse as she played a game of Solitaire."
That line comes from my novel The Chicken Club and is far too depressing when considering my love life so I chose another book!
This time, my love life fared MUCH better..."He hesitated, then kicked his pants and the rest of his discarded clothes into a pile farther from the fire."
If you want to know which book this line came from, let me know. I'll be happy to share the information with you!

Did You Say...
How can you resist this face? The Cookie Face? Not me!
Happy Wednesday (aka Happy Hump Day)!
Hope you have a great day.
Be Who You Are
Now this, my friends, is some excellent advice!
Don't change because someone asks you to.
Change only because you believe it is the right thing to do.

Learning to Read
I remember those days spent with Dick and Jane! Now I get to sit back and watch my own boys work with their little ones. I have to say that there are times I really celebrate being a grandma! Holidays, birthdays, discipline, and homework all rank at the top of that list. Yes, Indeed!

Can You Relate?
My true Floridian friends may not quite understand this,
but others will smile, nod, and just KNOW how right on this is!

When it Rains...
I think I want a potbelly pig! Isn't he cute? If one of my chihuahua's didn't already resemble this little guy, I might have to adopt one! Now all I have to do is find the flashy fashion boots to put my potbelly pup! Oh, he is going to love me for that! Blu, let's go shopping!

Be Kind...
This is something that should be automatic but for some reason, some humans are hard to love, let alone even tolerate at times. I have to constantly remind myself that we are all human, we are all imperfect. We all have daily struggles and we don't walk in each others shoes so how can we truly know what the person standing next to us is going through? We don't. We can't. The only thing we can do is to be kind. If I feel that you would be receptive, I would even give you a hug!

Yes, There Are Rules!!!
I love this - first of all, the first rule has a whopping error....it's creases, not cresses. Almost every published book I read anymore has at least one glaring error, if not many in it. Second, I'm not all that concerned about the fictional "boy," we can have a civilized debate. Third, it doesn't have one of the most important rules: Don't crease, bend, or ripple the binding!!! I hate that!
Does you have any other special "rules" to add? I would love to know what important rules you apply when lending out your favorite books!

Based on Your Birth Month, What Are You?
As my posts have been a little on the heavy side lately,
I thought it was time to lighten things up a bit.
So...I was Born the Kindest.
What about you?
Better Days Are Ahead
I am sharing this today for my very, very good friend Pam who learned last week that she has a large tumor attached to her kidney. She and her husband meet with the doctor this afternoon to find out what the next steps are in getting this burden removed. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Pam, Thad and Katie. I know that you're scared but please stay positive. God is holding all of you in the palms of His hands.

Peace and Tranquility
This picture makes me want to jump into the car and just drive. The sights, the sounds, the simplicity of a quiet country road can do wonders for the mind, the heart, and the soul. If you haven't taken a drive lately, I highly recommend it!

Troubles vs. Blessings
Today is an easy day to remember God's blessings. Yesterday was a little more difficult as my family sat in the waiting room at the Moffit Cancer Center waiting for my dad to come out of surgery. The room was filled with other families, just like ours, waiting for news, just as we were. Our news was good news, the spot was contained, they removed it all, the prognosis is very good. The family next to ours was not. Malignant melanoma already spread into the blood stream. He was immediately taken to the intensive care unit. While we were silently celebrating with thankful tears of joy, they were not. Their tears were shed for an entirely different reason. Yes, remembering our blessings and being joyful will be a much easier road to follow today. May God bless you and your family as He did mine yesterday.

What a Daughter Needs
I was blessed because my dad did this for me. Had I paid attention sooner, I would have found the man of my dreams a lot quicker. I can't say it hasn't come without pain, sacrifices, and a lot of hope and prayer. Today, I want to turn those hopes and prayers heavenward for my Dad. He is facing one of the biggest obstacles of his life and today is the day we'll discover what the path ahead holds for all of my family. I love you, Dad. While we are holding your hands, God is holding you tightly in his arms.

The Ultimate Chick Flick
Okay, so I won't kill anyone over shoes
but don't you dare touch my book collection!

People Watching
This happens to me every time I make a fool of myself. I am NEVER alone when I do stupid stuff! There is always at least one witness, if not fifty. I always thought my middle name growing up was Klutz! I think that I inherited those genes but it doesn't help me feel any better. I have sprained both ankles, twice. Twisted my knee, twice. I wobble, shimmy, and shake (HA - that makes a great mental picture, doesn't it?!) and I'm not talking about my dancing skills! I like to think I can still shake the booty God blessed me with when it counts!
Side Note: Just this past week, my grandson got poor marks in kindergarten for saying "booty" in the classroom. Actually, he KEPT saying "booty" after he was told not to. That's what got him in trouble. Seeing that I spent most of my recess time in kindergarten inside lying on my nap mat, I would say he might have received some of those dreaded genes himself! No finger pointing is going on here but Horshack is sitting on my shoulder with his hand in the air saying, "Ohh, ohh, ohh...!"
I thank goodness every day that I was also gifted with a strong sense of humor. Without it, life would be just plain and probably miserable. Yes - feel free to shake your head or roll your eyes - just don't forget to laugh out loud. Your body will thank you.
